On Tuesday, September 2, 2014, The Home Depot Data Breach may be the largest ever reported breach of 60 million. The amount is 20 million more than the Target Corporation breach reported on December 19, 2013 which was 40 million. Many financial institutions are monitoring the potential data breach involving Home Depot and they are informing their members as more information is becoming available. At this time, Home Depot has not confirmed the extent of the compromise. Even if you are not affected by this potential breach, your financial institution recommends monitoring your account for any unauthorized transactions and reporting those charges immediately. If you do find any unauthorized transactions on your account, stop by any local branch or call the customer service number to speak with a representative.
